| Spotlight | Summer Safety Tips ·Provide plenty of water, whether inside or outside. ·Caution with overexertion. Signs of overexertion include: weakness, excessive panting or drooling and bright red gums. Of particular concern are overweight animals, geriatrics and brachycephalics (dogs with short noses…boxers, bulldogs and pugs). ·Careful with sun exposure – pets can get sunburned too! ·NEVER leave your pet unattended in your car. ·Avoid pesticides- ant and rodent poisons as well as slug bait are very dangerous. If you suspect your pet has ingested even a small quantity, contact a veterinarian immediately. ·Careful around water as not all pets are excellent swimmers. ·And lastly, try not to let your pet drink out of ponds, puddles or standing lake water, as they are a common source of the giardia parasite.

Prevent Fleas, Heartworm and Internal Parasites!
Heartworm prevention starts June 1st and continues for 6 months (mosquito biting season). Fleas and Intestinal parasites can be an issue all year, however the greatest potential occurs when we’re out enjoying the company of others in community locations. Those environments can become chronically infected due the large population of domestic and wild critters visiting the area. Another likely source of infection can come from visiting other people’s yards or their pets coming to your house, leaving unwanted guests in your environment.
Ask us how you can prevent Heartworm, Internal parasites and Fleas.
